Step 1: Shampoo and apply cutting lotion. Comb through and establish horseshoe part (the highest point of recession and just below crown).

Step 2: Take a 90 degree 2in wide section at crown below horseshoe part and determine the desired length and cut horizontally. Continue from crown to each side, still using 2in wide sections until the back and sides are finished and round with the head.

Step 3: Blow dry the hair downward. Using scissor over comb or clipper over comb, start at nape and work to each side with comb directed out slightly and work upward following head to meet guide cut in step 2. Do so until desired length is achieved.

Step 4: Release the hair above horseshoe part. To blend sides into the top, take inch sections and cut at 90 degrees using point cutting technique. Continue until all length is cut. From crown, taking vertical inch sections at 180 degrees, cut the top using guide that was just achieved earlier in this step. Take radial sections forward to check for balance.

Step 5: Point cut entire top to add texture. Eliminate weight and soften appearance of fringe area in front by using graduation and point cutting. To remove length, use less graduation and also point cut. To finish, add product to enhance texture established in the cut.
